Most people rejoice on others happy occasions. We wish them well on those occasions. We wish Christians “Merry Christmas” on Christmas and to other religions we utter greetings to signify well wishes. For Muslims Ramadan is a special occasion. We wish each other ‘Ramadan Mubarak’. Many non-muslims express similar sentiment in many different words.
However, some people have gone further and created a special prayer for each of the 30 days of Ramadan (www.30-days.net). They even have special prayers for Friday (Muslim Sabbath) and Days of Power (Laila tal Qadr). Thousand of people are praying these prayers. With above description one would think that these prayers are of devout Muslims. WRONG! These prayers are being offered by Christian missionaries to turn Muslims to Christ! That is a prayer to convert Muslims to Christianity. One may ask, “Why would someone wish us ill on our happy occasion?” Missionaries have gone to great length to "contextualize", some pray five times in unison with Muslims but with a wish to convert Muslims. We are targeted in “10/40 window” which is a geographical location between latitudes of 10 and 40 degrees. They have painted a bulls eye on our chest. The imagery and the language is of war; conquest and supremacy. This is not a recent phenomenon as in 19th century a Christian movement known as “Salvation Army” was created, and it is still in existence. It modeled itself after the triumphal British colonial army. It has army ranks, uniforms and brass band similar to that in armed forces. Similar to the colonial army which pillaged our land the Salvation Army was going to pillage our souls.
But all their wishful thinking and boasting came to nothing. They have yet to make any significant advance against Islam. As a matter of fact they refer Muslim countries as “stony ground”; where "sowing and watering" does not work. Two years ago I (my alias was Adam Smith) actually ordered and receive a hardcopy of the 30 Day Prayer. I still have that document. While professing love, we are sometimes intended target of violence; read “Left Behind” Series of vile books.
What should be our response; ignore it all. Their childish, wishful thinking does us no harm. But it creates atmosphere not of professed “Love”, but adversarial ill will. My only comment to them will be to please grow up!
