Islamic Brotherhood is alive and well, even on the internet

We often hear about the affinity or bond between Muslims. I had the good fortune of experiencing it first hand and of all places, on internet. When interacting on the internet, the usual attitude is to be cautious and take care, for the net is perceived to be full of sharks ready to take advantage. In many cases it is true to some extent. But occasionally one is surprised by encounters with strangers who show openness, friendliness, honesty. Such was my recent experience.

I found a theme (a graphic scheme for the web content) suitable for my web site available at very reasonable price. It was mentioned favorably in Drupal (a website creation program with which this site is built) forum. I bought it paying with a special credit card I keep for web transactions. It has very limited credit limit, and I go through each purchase as if I am willing to loose this amount. The theme was promptly delivered along with the email from the developer, Mohamed Saqib. By his Muslim name I was intrigued and I enquired about him, where he was from. I also let him know that the theme was going to be installed on a Muslim charity in Canada. Mohammad Saqib turned out to be a 21 year old young man from Kanpur, India. Kanpur is only 40 miles from the place of my birth. But without any prompting he offered to donate the theme free of charges and promised to reverse the payment on Pay Pal. It was magnificent gesture, an illustration that brotherhood of Islam works even on the impersonal internet. The returned money was received and MuslimServ recorded a donation in-kind in the name of this young man.

During the subsequent weeks he helped me install the theme, as my knowledge of computer is limited and painfully self acquired. We now have a web site with world class presentation thanks to the generosity of this young man. Thank you Mohamed Saqib!
