Their expansive and ancient copper and lately optical networks have competition with modern and high speed internet. Telco network is proprietary while internet is open and egalitarian. It allows innovation from millions of people. One of the innovations was carrying of telephone signals on internet, by passing Telco networks. These signals are carried through VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol).

In a recent TVO program ‘Agenda’ Tarek Fattah said about MuslimServ’s Jihad to feed the hungry in the name of Islam. As usual Tarek Fattah was railing against Islam and painting Jihad and indeed Islam as violent. Just then Steve Paikin read excerpt of my post. Tarek's sheepish response

There was a time when immigrant, especially of colour, used to feel Liberal party as the natural home. It was the party which supported aspiration of all people and cultures, and it was party which gave us multicultural policies. Many of us, including myself have been ‘dyed in the wool’ Liberals, for they spoke for us and supported our goals and aspirations.

It is gratifying to receive donations anonymously. It means that these donors have trust in MuslimServ that their donations will be used properly. For a charity the the most important requirement is credibility, trust and clarity. Without these we can not last for a day. We endeavor to earn it every single day. Our methods are; first class customer service, open communication and clarity in operational and financial matters. Anonymous donors validate our effort and tell us that we are on the right path.

Many Muslims in Canada have a notion that poverty and hunger does not occur here. And certainly not among Muslim Canadians. But the fact of the matter is that hunger does occur in Canada and substantial suffers are Muslims. In Canada poverty is not visible as in many countries from where we came from. But silent cry of help rises from cramped basements in densely urban neighborhoods. They are single mothers with children, recent immigrants, working poor. Some of them are highly educated and qualified.
